--------------------------------- The Eleventh CXMEE ---------------------------------

Profile:

The four-day 11th China Xiamen Machinery & Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE) concluded on April 11, 2007 in Xiamen with fruitful results. With special authorization by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, CXMEE is jointly organized by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and Taiwan Electric and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, and Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, with the assistance of Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Exchange Association, Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association, and Taichung World Trade Center.

The 11th CXMEE was unprecedented in scale and delivered significant results. It exhibited the following five major characteristics:

I. Center of Attention and Ever-Improving Functions

The 11th CXMEE received great attention and strong support from party and national leaders and related government authorities. The CXMEE opening ceremony was presided over by CPPCC Vice Chairman Zhang Kehui. More than 2000 Chinese and foreign dignities, including high-ranking government officials and industry executives attended and heaped on the CXMEE.

The 11th CXMEE drew a large number of overseas industry and business associations and professionals, and added Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association and Taichung World Trade Center as facilitators. As many as 22 industry and business organizations in Taiwan sent delegations to the CXMEE. A total number of 110 Taiwanese businesses were represented at the CXMEE, showcasing their products at 244 stands. Mainland-based Taiwanese enterprises also took an active part in the exhibition, occupying more than 150 stands. Hsu Sheng Hsiung, Director-General of Taiwan Electric and Electronic Manufacturers Association, said, “With CXMEE, enterprises on both sides of Taiwan Strait, especially electronic and mechanical enterprises, are able to explore business opportunities and achieve win-win results.”

he CXMEE served ever-improving functions and provide a better platform for across-strait economic cooperation and trade. As of 12:00, April 11, the CXMEE had attracted 23,338 professional visitors from 42 countries and regions, including 4,322 overseas visitors—up 22.7% from last year. Taiwan remains the largest source of non-mainland visitors, with 2,142 visitors. Other leading nations and regions included the United State, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, and Singapore.

II. A Large Collection of International Brands and Ever-Expanding Influence

Following 11 years of development, CXMEE has taken on an ever expanding scale, and its standard has improved steadily. CXMEE attracted more than 700 exhibitors which occupied more than 1,670 stands, the highest number ever.

The exhibition of CXMEE had the following features:
1. A large number of international renowned enterprises were represented at CXMEE, including Banne, the world’s industrial control automation giant; Japan’s Mazak, the world’s leading machine tool manufacturer; Germany’s Arburg, one of the world’s top plastic injector maker; and Nanjing Keya Enterprises, China’s leading plastic assembly processing machinery builder, indicating that CXMEE features considerable brand recognition and attraction.

2. CXMEE attracted many repeated clients, with more than 60% of the exhibitors having prior experience in the CXMEE. Agie Charmilles, Japan’s TNT, Shenyang Machine Tools, Dalian Machine Tool, Siemens Standard Motors, Koyo Seiko, Hyundai Kia and many other leading electromechanical enterprises have attended CXMEE for multiple times; Panasonic Welders, Haitian Plastic Machinery, Chende Plastic Machinery, Taiwan Kindi and many other big-name enterprises have attended CXMEE for more than eight times. As many as 66 enterprises each had an exhibition space of more than 50 square meters, and over 70% the exhibition stands were specially designed. All these indicate that CXMEE provides better results and has established a solid reputation in the industries.

3.The exhibition had international-class professional standard. Mechanic products were the primary category of products on display at CXMEE. Nearly 300 enterprises showcased over 600 machines and equipment at more than 800 stands. In addition, a sizable number of instruments, industrial control devices, photoelectric devices and moulds were exhibited.

4.A huge number of high-tech products and new products were displayed. CXMEE has become the best platform for showcasing high-tech products and new products. CXMEE presented a significant number of products incorporating cutting-edge technologies.

5. CXMEE delivered improved results. Most exhibiting enterprises received substantial orders and cooperation intents. Ningbo Ruyi Co., Ltd., a first timer to CXMEE, inked sales contracts worth more than RMB 15 million; TNT (China) Group signed sales contracts worth more than RMB 10 million; Beijing Agie Charmilles sold three precision digitally controlled machine tools worth more than RMB 2 million and received orders worth nearly RMB 5 million. Haitai Machinery Manufacturing received purchase intents of more than RMB 5 million. Five other enterprises each received orders worth more than RMB 5 million. Due to the good results, many exhibitors expressed their desire to attend the exhibition next year. Baoji Xili Precision Machinery, a first-time exhibitor, reserved eight stands for next year from the Organizing Committee, doubling this year’s size.

III. Investment Matchmaking Seminars Offered to Promote Industry Cooperation and Upgrading

At the request of the exhibitors, for the first time, the Organizing Committee provided three investment project matchmaking seminars to promote mutual interaction between trade and investment. The seminars included the Cross-Strait Investment and Trade Matchmaking Seminar, the 2007 Cross-Strait LED Industry Project Matchmaking Seminar, and the China-Germany (Europe) Investment and Financing Cooperation Matchmaking Seminar, all of which delivered fruitful results thanks to adequate preparations.

The Cross-Strait Investment and Trade Matchmaking Seminar was attended by 86 enterprises, including 20 from Taiwan; these enterprises represented machinery, electronics, hardware, photoelectric, agricultural and aquatic product industries.

The China-Germany (Europe) Investment and Financing Cooperation Matchmaking Seminar, hosted by the CXMEE Organizing Committee, Europe-China Chamber of Commerce and Bode Equity Group, was aimed at helping exhibiting electromechanical enterprises to seek funding by launching IPO in Germany and promoting trade and investment cooperation between Germany’s electromechanical industry and enterprises attending CXMEE. 11 experts from various domestic and international organizations and 329 representatives from 186 enterprises across Taiwan Strait attended the seminar, with four securing cooperation intents.

Agreements on eight investment and production cooperation projects were signed on the spot. Exhibitors applauded the seminar its fruitful results. The seminar opened a new channel for cross-strait and international industry linkage and cooperation.

IV. Forums and Symposiums Focused on Hot Economic Points

Dignitaries attended the forum including Chong Quan, Assistant to the Minister of Commerce; Yok Mu-ming, Chairman of New Party; and Liu Cigui, Mayor of Xiamen. At the forum, Mr. Chong evisioned greater economic and trade links across Taiwan Strait, saying that historic experiences bear strong testimony to the fact that both sides on Taiwan Strait cooperate with each other to gain mutual benefits and establish greater links to enjoy win-win situation. A wide variety of supporting events were also staged at CXMEE, including the Cross-Strait Animation and Comics Expo. The expo, which received an overwhelming response, aimed to promote technological collaboration and business partnership, prosper the cultural market across the Taiwan Strait, stimulate the development of the animation and comics industries, and build a brand-new image for Xiamen.
