The 2010 Cross-Straits Economic and Trade Forum opened yesterday morning at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. It’s themed around the signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) and the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone,

Attending experts called upon Xiamen to take advantage of the signing of ECFA and the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone to develop itself into a “window” on the financial and logistics sectors across the Taiwan Straits.

The Cross-Straits Economic and Trade Forum is a trademark event of CXMEE. Its themes over the past years epitomize the normalization of the economic and trade relations across the Taiwan Straits.

Jiao Youjun, director-general of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, stated during this speech at the forum that Taiwan’s business community is looking forward to ECFA, which is set to become a milestone in cross-straits economic and trade ties.

Another principal speaker, Yi Xianrong, stated that it’s important for Xiamen to become the gateway for Taiwan’s banking, logistics, technology and education sectors to enter the mainland market.
