Zheng Lizhong, Executive Deputy Director, Taiwan Affairs Office, State Council

CXMEE is the earliest large-scale machinery and electronics exhibition co-organized by both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Since its inauguration 14 years ago, CXMEE has borne witness to the evolution of the cross-straits relations; it epitomizes the wisdom and endeavors of the business communities on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. CXMEE’s scale has been expanding steadily, its operating form has been steadily improved, and its standard has been rising continuously. It’s an essential bridge for cross-straits economic and trade cooperation and a vital platform for expanding cross-straits interaction, playing a crucial role in consolidating the kinship across the Taiwan Straits; it has delivered substantial results. CXMEE reminds me of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, which has been a substantial strategic decision and is set to play an important role in expanding cross-straits exchanges and cooperation. We’re confident that Fujian and Xiamen will afford high priority to the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, transform their means of economic development, adjust their economic structures, tap their unique advantages in strengthening cross-straits cooperation, and accommodate a larger number of relocated enterprises from Taiwan. Fujian will also further open Pingtan Island to Taiwan to secure brighter prospects.

Jiao Youjun, Director-General, Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association

CXMEE is set to play a greater role in tapping the mutually complementary advantages of the machinery and electronics industries on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Machinery and electronics have consistently accounted for a significant percentage of Taiwan’s investment in mainland China. The exchange and cooperation of the machinery and electronics industries across the Taiwan Straits have not only stimulated their own growth, but also strengthen the industries’ efforts to tap into the global market. The Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association joined CXMEE in 2001 and since then has been working closely with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products and the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government in building CXMEE as a specialized trade platform. We are delighted to see that with the concerted efforts of the business communities on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, CXMEE has evolved from its humble origins into the premier machinery and electronics exhibition across the Taiwan Straits, enjoying extensive recognition in the industries. We’re confident that with the continued recovery of the global economy and the development of the relationship between mainland China and Taiwan, cooperation of the industries across the straits will deepen, opening up greater development opportunities for CXMEE. The Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association is committed to working closely with our peers to expand the influence of CXMEE and to contribute more to economic prosperity across the Taiwan Straits.

Liu Cigui, Mayor of Xiamen

The 14th CXMEE is the first one after the State Council announced an initiative to speed up the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Development Zone. CXMEE is also a vital event in facilitating the progress of the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Development Zone and strengthening interaction and cooperation and boosting economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits. The success of CXMEE will enhance cross-straits relationship, consolidate cross-straits exchange and cooperation, and promote common development across the straits. Xiamen has the confidence and abilities to provide comprehensive professional logistical services for CXMEE to ensure its success.
