Many Xiamen residents and enterprises have benefited from booming online shopping. The CXMEE Organizing Committee announced yesterday that the 2010 Global Search Engine Marketing Convention, which will be held during this year’s CXMEE, will invite representatives from successful B2C enterprises from across the world to present online marketing tips to CXMEE participants.

The 2010 Global Search Engine Marketing Convention will take place on April 9 and 10. As a key event of CXMEE, the convention has received strong support from the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO), the North America Search Marketing Organization, the Taipei International Web Advertising and Media Operation Organization, and Koelnmesse. The convention will explore B2C marketing solutions. B2C refers to describes activities of businesses serving end consumers with products and/or services.

Statistics show that China’s online shopping in 2009 topped RMB 267 billion, accounting for 2.1 percent of total retails, double the amount of 2008. Of the more than 10,000 shops on Taobao.com, over 200 are owned by Xiamen enterprises. Xiamen’s B2C sales exceeded RMB 200 billion in 2009. However, compared with developed nations, the online shopping penetration rate remains low in China. Thus, online marketing holds enormous potential for Xiamen enterprises and residents.

The convention will explore online B2C marketing and identify feasible ways for conventional enterprises to make quick inroads into the online shopping market and to tap new business opportunities on the Internet. Representatives from successful B2C enterprises will be invited to share their success experience and provide “diagnostic” service for CXMEE participants.

The convention will include a high-level Internet forum with participants from across the Taiwan Straits. Zhan Hongzhi, chairman of PChome Online, Taiwan’s largest online media company, as well as Lin Siwu, general manager of Awoo International, Taiwan’s leading search engine marketing firm, will attend the forum and exchange views with mainland Internet executives.
