The 14th China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), dubbed “the Premier Machinery and Electronics Exhibition” across the Taiwan Straits, will take place on from April 8 to 11 at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. Cao Hongying, the deputy commissioner of the Special Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Commerce in Fuzhou, recently stated that CXMEE, with its boundless business opportunities, is the best choice for the machinery and electronics industries across the Taiwan Straits to seize initiatives in the market.

At a press conference hosted by Fujian Provincial Government, Huang Ling, Deputy Director of CXMEE Organizing Committee and Vice Mayor of Xiamen, revealed that the number of booths at the upcoming CXMEE may increase 30 percent over last year to 2,500, with 500 ones to be occupied by Taiwanese organizations and businesses. To date, over 5,000 business professionals from more than 20 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and the United States, have signed up for the exhibition, and more than 800 businesses have confirmed their intentions to stage exhibitions at CXMEE, and over 30,000 business professionals are expected to be in attendance.

Huang Ling described the preparations for CXMEE as “extremely smooth”. She stated that the forthcoming CXMEE will benefit from the recovery of the global economy and the warming relations between the mainland and Taiwan. Huang Heming, Secretary-General of the CXMEE Organizing Committee and Director of the Xiamen Center for the Promotion of Trade with Taiwan, also told the press that enthusiasm for the upcoming CXMEE is unprecedented.

Cao Hongying also stated at the press conference that CXMEE, with its boundless business opportunities, is the best choice for the machinery and electronics industries across the Taiwan Straits to seize initiatives in the market. According to Cao, in December 2009, the mainland approved 318 new Taiwanese investment projects, up 20.9 percent year-on-year, and in the same month, Taiwanese investors poured US$ 260 million in the mainland, up 30 percent. This indicates that the situation is turning for the better.
