The 13th China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition has emerged as a window on economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.
As the earliest specialized machinery and electronics exhibition co-hosted by mainland and Taiwan, CXMEE has grown from its humble origins to the premier machinery and electronics event across the Taiwan Straits hosting about 2,000 booths and a major platform for promoting complementation of mutual advantages of the machinery and electronics industries across the Taiwan Strait.
The ongoing CXMEE hosts a record of 1970 stands and features 800 enterprises, attracting nearly 30,000 visitors. It opened on April 8 in Xiamen and will run through April 11.
The present CXMEE hosts more than 200 Taiwan-funded enterprises, which take up nearly 500 stands. A large number of the world’s leading companies, such as Germany’s Spike, the world’s largest manufacturer of optical spectrum instruments; and Germany’s Bosch, the world’s leading tool maker, joined CXMEE for the first time. Japan’s Mazak, Sodick, Konica Minolta, Panasonic Welding Systems, Hitachi Mould Steel, OTC Welders, Stanley Tools, South Korea’s Hyundai KIA and Hong Kong’s L. K. Technology, were featured at CXMEE.
CXMEE has continued to be a magnet from machinery and electronics enterprises from across the Taiwan Straits, presenting enormous opportunities for cooperation.
At present, mainland China is the world’s manufacturing hub and fastest growing region. Trade between mainland China and Taiwan reached a record level of USD 129.2 billion last year. The mainland is Taiwan’s largest trade partner, while Taiwan is the mainland’s seventh trade partner. So far, the mainland has accumulatively approved 78,000 Taiwan investment projects, involving USD 47.9 billion.
According to Cheng Fu-Hung, Vice Director General of Taiwan Electric and Electronic Manufacturers Association (TEEMA), machinery and electronics are the largest category of commodities in trade between the mainland and Taiwan, accounting for nearly half of the total trade between the two sides and of Taiwan’s investment in the mainland.
Mr. Cheng stated that TEEMA will work closely with Xiamen and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products and will strengthen collaboration with CXMEE to further tap the mutual advantages of both sides, penetrate the international market, and contribute to economic prosperity across the Taiwan Straits.
Fujian, on the forefront of economic and trade exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits, is spearheading the synergy of electronic information and machinery industries across the Taiwan Straits. Xiamen, by hosting CXMEE, is playing an increasing role in economic and trade exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan.
