The expansion of CXMEE witnessed the most important period of time across the straits. As the only machinery and electronics fair jointly organized by the two sides in Chinese Mainland, with the supports of relevant organizations and the business circle across the straits and the recognition of customers of more and more countries, CXMEE grew consistently in scale with more and more far-reaching effects. The holding of the event played a very positive role in enhancing cross-straits economic and trade exchanges and promoting the common development of cross-straits machinery and electronics industry. Hereby I would like to thank all of the agencies and circles contributing to the development of CXMEE and the organizers for their arduous efforts.

CCCME with more than 7000 members is the most influential industrial organization in the import and export of machinery and electronics. In the past years, CCCME with its mission of serving its member enterprises made remarkable progress in conducting relevant coordination, advancing the trade growth of China, safeguarding the interests of its members, participating in and organizing exhibitions independently. To promote trade and economic cooperation, particularly in exchange and cooperation of machinery and electronics industry, is one of the priorities of CCCME.

2008 is a remarkable year for the two sides across the straits. In the past year, positive progress was emerging across the straits and the relationships between the two sides gained historic opportunities and entered the rail of peace and development. The Three Direct Links of Post, Trade and Transport Services were realized after 30 years. The cooperation was deepened which was indicated by the growth of bilateral trade. According to the statistics, the total imports and exports between Chinese Mainland and Taiwan reached USD 85.44 billion in 2008, up 2.34% year on year. The exports of Chinese Mainland to Taiwan amounted to USD 15.12 billion, up 8.8% year on year, and the imports of Chinese Mainland from Taiwan reached USD 70.32 billion, up 1.07% year on year. Chinese Mainland has already grown to be the largest trade partner, the largest export destination country and the largest source of trade surplus for Taiwan.

The particularities of relationships across the Taiwan Straits determined the significance of industrial organizations in organizing cross-straits exchanges. Up to date, CCCME has already established long-term cooperation relationships with TEEMA, IEAT, TCA, TaipeiWorldTradeCenter and a large number of Taiwan-based companies including FPC. With direct supports of MOFCOM, CCCME and TEEMA jointly organized Cross-Straits Electronics Show in TaipeiWorldTradeCenter firstly in 2003. Till now, the show was held for five consecutive sessions. In parallel with the show, we also organized seminars on electronics industry. In the future, CCCME will further discuss with relevant organizations in Taiwan the possibilities of cooperation in other projects.
