As a result of the recent rainy season, the prices of vegetables in Jinmen went up and shortage of supply appeared. On the demands of Jinmen Fruits and Vegetables Association, Thursday, Xiamen prepared 9 species of vegetables to ship to Jinmen through Dadeng Island.
In the Port of Taiwan-targeted Small-volume Trades in Dadeng Island, nearly 19 tons of fresh vegetables, transferred on emergency from Xiamen Fruits and Vegetables Base, were being loaded here. At 8:30 a.m. that morning, "Jin Ji Xing", a small cargo ship from Jinmen, arrived at the port. It was prepared to ship these vegetables, worth nearly 3000 US dollars, to Jinmen for sale. The supplier of these vegetables told our reporters that as the recent rain lasted nearly a month, the prices of vegetables in Jinmen rose sharply. For example, the price of cabbage went up violently from 20 Taiwan dollars per kilometer to nearly 40 per kilometer. Also, many vegetables are in shortage of supply.
(Peng Huaming, Manager of Marketing Department in Xiamen Seashine Agriculture Group Co., Ltd.: We’re trying to meet the demands for vegetables in Jinment. Anyway, the freshness and price of our vegetables will be quite competitive in Jinmen market.)
After one hour of sailing, the vegetables arrived at Jinmen. Xiamen Customs also launched the "Freshness path" to provide prior customs declaration service for the vegetables.
