Making phone calls, watching TV, and receiving emails, all are possible with a single piece of optical fiber.
Yesterday, the Cross-Strait Fiber-to-the-Home Promotion Seminar took place at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center, attracting a large number of experts who exchange a wide diversity of views on fiber to the home (FTTH).
Zhao Zisen, an academician of the Wuhan Academy of Telecommunications Science; Zhu Mudao, Secretary-General of Taiwan Alliance Optical Communication Industries; and representatives from local government agencies, telecom service providers, and real estate developers attended the seminar.
FTTH is currently rapidly gaining in popularity across the world. FTTH combines data, voice and image internet access, allowing people to work, access information and obtain entertainment services from the comfort of their homes. At present, countries around the world are actively promoting FTTH to cover the "last kilometer" of fast access to the internet. FTTP has become the mainstream of broadband internet access technology, attracting the same amount of attention that "3G" receives in the communications industry.
