--An Interview with Dr. Cao Yinian from the Sandia Lab of the US Department of Energy

The name recogition of the CXMEE has spread to the North American and Europe. On April 12, Dr. Cao Yinian from the Sandia Lab of the US Department of Energy accepted an interview by our staff reporter at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center.
Reporter: China has give you such a pleasant impression. As an ethic Chinese, have you ever considered coming back to China to contribute to the country’s development?
Cao Yinian: Definitely. The purpose of my trip to Xiamen is to share my latest research findings in photoelectrics with my fellow Chinese. As to its details, you will find out in my speech scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I started photoelectric research back in 1999; my trip to this conference is also for promoting this new type of energy. Whether it is in the USA or around the world, governments and grassroots enterprises should promote this energy-saving energy.
Reporter: How do you rate the sophistication and development potential of China in the photoelectric field, including LED?
Cao Yinian: The CXMEE is jointly orgainzed by professional organizations from across the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan is higly developed in photoelectric technologies; I believe Taiwan can provide the mainland with some technical assistance. Considering the current development momentum, China will soon obtain a dominant leadership status in the photoelectric field, including the LED.
Reporter: American enteprises are also represented at Today’s match-up seminar; can you comment on Sino-US cooperation in the photoeletric field?
Cao Yinian: At the present time, there is no official cooperation between the two sides, but there is partnership between enterprises. I’m here today on behalf of the Sandia Lab of the US Department of Energy. I believe that official cooperation is something that will happen shortly.
