On the afternoon of April 12, experts and scholars attending the Cross-Strait Optical Communication Enterprises Roundtable Conference announced the establishment of the preparatory office for Cross-Strait Optical Communication Promotion Commission (CSOCPC); according to the meeting minutes signed by the 20 delegates from mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, CSOCPC will be officially launched in November this year. The commission will be charged with the mission of establishing the industry standards for China’s optical-fiber industry and solving enormous inter-enterprise debts.
Members of the commission also decided that from this year and onwards, an optical communication forum will be held during the CXMEE in each April to probe issues relating to the development of China’s domestic optical-fiber industry and market.
The preparatory office will officially establish the CSOCPC during the 5th China Optical Communication Forum which will take place in November this year in Wuhan. The promotion commission will make strong efforts to solve the huge amount of inter-enterprise debts in the domestic optical-fiber industry. “The problem of inter-enterprise has become very serious and common; some enterprises are owed more than one billion yuan. The preparatory office will report the issue to the Ministry of Commerce next month,” Du Bolin says.
One of the objectives of the new commission is to formulate industry standards. Du Bolin says, “Following its official establishment, the commission will start work on formulating the standards.” It seems that the conditions for establishing industry standards are already in place.
Du also says that the commission will aim to attract not only corporate executives from large-scaled enterprises, but also academicians, experts, marketing professionals and service providers.
Gao Songyue, CEO of Taiwan Qiancai Technology Ltd. Told the report, “Efforts should be made to shorten the time required for the cooperation between both sides to bear fruits and to quantify cooperation achievements. Such cooperation should be realized preferably in half a year; no business opportunity is going to wait for your for two years. Only by working closely together can we seize domestic and international business opportunities. I hope that the promotion commission will make concrete contributions to the promotion of cooperation.”
