The 9th China Xiamen Machinery & Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), jointly organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products (CCCME), Xiamen Municipal People’s Government and Taiwan Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), consists of 1,486 booths, with the scale exceeding that of previous CXMEEs and most conspicuous Taiwan-oriented features.

This year, a larger number of Taiwanese enterprises are present at this CXMEE, with as many as 106 Taiwan-based enterprises represented at this trade event, occupying 210 booths. During the CXMEE, professional organizations across Taiwan Strait will join hands in organizing multiple forums and seminars, including “Cross-Strait Cooperation Forum for Machinery & Electronics Industries and and “Cross-Strati Roundtable Conference for Optical Communication Operating and Manufacturing Industries”, which are aimed at exchanging views on topics of mutual interest. Moreover, the Cross-Strait Solid-State Lighting Industry Exchange & Cooperation Team and the Cross-Strait Optical Communication Industry Exchange & Cooperation Team will be officially established during the CXMEE.

Luo Huaijia, deputy director-general of the Taiwan Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers’ Assocation told our staff report during an interview that “the CXMEE is an event of great significance considering the current limited exchanges and understanding across the Strait”. He expresses hope that through Xiamen as a platform, the CXMEE will bring people from the industries on both sides of Taiwan Strait closer together for further exchanges and a win-win situation.

Zhang Changping, mayor of Xiamen, says, “The vatality of the CXMEE lies in its innovations and swift responses to the ever-changing science, technology and market; new life should be pumped into this trade event.” The CXMEE has played a positive role in promoting international exchanges of technology, information and capital and in strengthening cooperation and exchanges in academic communities and business communities on both sides of the Strait. Xiamen has the confidence and ability to stage the CXMEE in the most efficient manner and to allow it a greater role in trade and economic cooperations across Taiwan Strait.
