The four-day 15th China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition
(CXMEE) concluded on April 11,
High-ranking government officials attending the CXMEE included Lin
Wenyi, vice chairman of the CPPCC and chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Alliance
Central Committee attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbons to signalize
the opening of the exhibition. Yu Weiguo, a member of the Standing Committee of
the CPC Fujian Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal
Committee; Jiang Yaoping, vice minister of commerce; Sun Yafu, deputy director
of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; Cao Jianlin, vice minister of
science and technology; Wei Chuanzhong, deputy director of the General
Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; Ye Shuangyu,
vice governor of Fujian; Ye Jige, vice chairman of the Fujian People’s Political
Consultative Conference; Liu Keqing, deputy secretary of the CPC Xiamen
Municipal Committee and Mayor of Xiamen. Taiwan dignitaries attending the CXMEE
included Shan Ji, senior advisor to the Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation;
Zhan Huosheng, chairman of the Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation; Lin
Borong, chairman of the World Trade Center Taichung; Liu Guozhao,
director-general of the Taipei Importers and Exporters Association; and Zheng
Fuxiong, deputy director-general of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic
Manufacturers Association.
The 15th CXMEE coincided with the 15th anniversary of the CXMEE and the
inaugural year of the 12th Five-Year Plan. With the implementation of the ECFA
and the accelerating development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, the
CXMEE enjoyed record participation thanks to its enormous business
opportunities. Over 90 delegations from the Taiwan Electrical and
Electronic Manufacturers Association, the Taipei Importers and Exporters
Association, the World Trade Center Taichung, and the Cross-Straits Common
Market. As of noon of April 11, the CXMEE has attracted 36,286 trade
visitors from 35 countries and regions, including 5,838 overseas visitors from
Indonesia,India,Malaysia,Vietnam,Japan,Thailand,Singapore,America, Australia,
Hong kong and other countries and regions.
With the concerted efforts of the business communities across the Taiwan
Straits, the 15th CMXEE saw a significant improvement in overall standard and
scale, richer functions, greater specialization, and more substantial results.
It exhibited the following four major characteristics:
I. CXMEE has become a vital
platform for the business communities across the Taiwan Straits to join hands to
tap into the global marketplace, and its name recognition has significantly
expanded.
Following 15 years of development, the CXMEE has become the largest
economic and trade exchange event across the Taiwan Straits, and evolved into a
major platform for the business communities across the Taiwan Straits to join
hands to tap into the global marketplace. The 15th CXMEE featured 936
domestic and overseas enterprises and provided 3,250 booths spread out over an
exhibition area of 65,000 square meters, setting new records. Concurrently held

The 15th CXMEE showcased the latest technologies, products and
innovations from the machinery and electronics industries from across the Taiwan
Straits, including the XG956II loader, the XG836LC mine excavator, and China’s
smallest XG918TE 1.8-ton mine shaft loader made by Xiagong; the EF110
caterpillar excavator made by the Xugong Group; the world’s first
ultra-large-power energy-saving light made by Germany’s Sacred Lighting; the
world’s first flexible solar courtyard lamp made by Guangyu Technology; and the
world’s most advanced T5 fluorescent lamps made by Topstar, which have a service
life of 30,000 hours. Evidently, the CXMEE has become the best platform for the
machinery and electronics industries from across the Taiwan Straits to showcase
their high-tech products. The clustering effects of the CXMEE have further
consolidated as well. The exhibition area for machining tools and equipment, the
largest exhibition area at the CXMEE, featured a record number of 1,260 booths,
while the exhibition area for engineering machinery featured 930 booths, and the
exhibition areas for industrial controls and moulds showcased more than 350
booths.
Trade talks boomed at the CXMEE and a significant number of deals were
clinched, delivering substantial benefits to exhibitors. Most exhibiting
enterprises have expressed satisfaction with the results of taking part in the
exhibition. Nearly 70 percent of the enterprises have won substantial orders,
and more enterprises have identified potential trading partners. With the
remarkable results, many exhibitors have indicated that they will continue to
take part in the CXMEE next year, and a lot of enterprises have stated that they
will make the CXMEE a must-attend annual specialized exhibition.
II. Forums and seminars were focused on hot
topics and the CXMEE has become an important platform to promote economic and
trade exchanges and high-tech innovations across the Taiwan Straits.
The 15th CXMEE included 21 forums and seminars on cross-straits economic
and trade exchanges, machinery and electronics markets, industrial cooperation,
e-commerce, and online marketing. A total of 156 distinguished guests spoke at
the forums and seminars, attracting audiences of more than 8,000 from
enterprises, scientific research institutions, and the business communities
across the Taiwan Straits.
As a signature forum of CXMEE, the Cross-Straits Economic and Trade
Forum attended intense attention from the industry and academia on both sides of
the Taiwan Straits. The forum was themed around “New Opportunities for
Cooperation between Mainland and Taiwan Enterprises”. At the forum, experts,
scholars and business elites explored the ways for enterprises on both sides of
the Taiwan Straits to strengthen cooperation, speed up upgrading, and jointly
tap into the international market. They also shared their insights into the
fresh opportunities and challenges for the business communities on both sides of
the Taiwan Straits following the institutionalization of the economic and trade
relations across the Taiwan Straits. Participants at the forum reached a

During the CXMEE, the Organizing Committee teamed up with various
leading media organizations to host a series of specialized forums on hot
topics. The 2011 Microblogging Marketing Conference, centered on the current
microblogging boom, explored new marketing models for microblogging and the
collaboration of tradition and modern marketing models. A large number of star
microbloggers share in their sharp insights in the development of microblogging,
attracting an audience of more than 1,000 people. The 2011 Global Search Engine
Marketing Conference focused on search engine technology innovations and
applications, and explored opportunities in global search markets in different
languages. The fourth Cross-Straits E-Commerce Summit Forum explored the new
development of e-commerce pending the integration of the telecom, Internet and
cable TV networks. The second Cross-Straits Business Forum was centered on the
quality of cross-strait business and trade exchanges and matchmaking of premium

The CXMEE is not only a platform for exhibition and trading, but also
the best forum for promoting high-tech innovations in the machinery and
electronics industries across the Taiwan Straits. The 2011 LED Indoor Lighting
Technology Development Forum, the first Cross-Straits Call Center Outsourcing
Seminar, the second Cross-Straits Summit Forum on Digital Learning and Future
Classrooms, and many other specialized forums and seminars were held to
development common technical standards for both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
Many enterprises showcased their latest technologies, products and processes and
released information at the forum. Various other forums and seminars were
successfully held, including the Seminar on the Differentiation and Innovation
of Engineering Machinery Products under Diversified Market Demands, and the
Forum on the Stimulatory Effect of Overseas Project Contracting on the
Exportation of Engineering Machinery and Equipment; and many other technical
seminars and promotional seminars on new products and processes, such as the
Perspective on New Tools Made by Japan’s Union Co., Ltd., the New Century Forum
on Plastic Moulds, and the Forum on Microfoaming Technologies and BS Servor
Energy Efficiency Technologies. All these indicate that the CXMEE has become a
major venue for cross-straits economic and trade cooperation, information
release, and joint efforts to tap into the international market.
III. Project matchmaking facilitates cooperation and
the CXMEE has become a major bridge for industrial cooperation and exchanges
across the Taiwan Straits.
In light of hot projects and market demand in cross-straits investment
and trade, and in response to the hot topics and industrial advantages in the
industries across the Taiwan Straits, this year, the CXMEE Organizing Committee
held a number of project matchmaking events for energy-saving lighting products,
private equity investment, and cross-straits investment and trade, attracting
more than 600 suppliers, buyers, investors and investment and financing service
providers from across the Taiwan Straits. These events have facilitated trading
and the formation of investment partnerships, effectively enhanced the results
of participation, highlighted the CXMEE’s role as a leading platform for
promoting industrial cooperation and upgrading across the Taiwan Straits, and
accentuated the role of
The Private Equity Investment Forum and the Premium Project Roadshow and
Investment and Financing Matchmaking Symposium, the first ones of their kinds,
were dress rehearsals for the roadshow events at the upcoming 15th
China International Fair for Investment and Trade; they are aimed at providing
value-added services for the exhibitors and visitors and offering a platform for
sizable enterprises with vast growth potential to seek listing on the stock
exchange. The events attracted more than 300 representatives from the investment
and financing industries. Six enterprises, including Haidexing Technologies,
conducted roadshows, and 19 investment entities, including Red Earth Venture
Capital, attended project briefings; moreover, over 10 enterprises and
investment entities were successfully matched.
The Cross-Straits Investment and Trade Matchmaking Symposium has been
successfully held for five consecutive years, becoming a major platform for
promoting cross-straits industrial cooperation. This year, 20 manufacturers and
traders from
The 2011 Energy-efficient Lighting Product Sourcing Matchmaking and
Information Release Conference has been held for a number of sessions, gaining
wide recognition in the industries. Twelve internationally renowned buyers,
including Philips Lighting and Adeo, set up desks for business talks, obtaining
procurement information and winning orders for energy-saving lighting products.

journalists from 72 media organizations covered the events, including Xinhua

Preliminary statistics show that these media organizations wrote a
record number of more than 8,000 pieces of news on the CXMEE, expanding the
CXMEE’s global influence.
The CXMEE has come a long way over the past 15 years. Inaugurated in
1997, the CXMEE has steadily expanded its scale and influence and increased its
level of specialization. Today, it’s not only the largest and most influential
exhibition of machinery and electronics, but also a golden bridge for economic
and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges and bonding across the Taiwan Straits.
Over the past 15 years, more and more enterprises have taken part in the
CXMEE. Specifically, more than 10,000 enterprises have participated in the
exhibition, and the number of booths of CXMEE has expanded from the original 520
to the current 3250, with the exhibition area exceeding 300,000 square meters.

rich contents. The CXMEE is credited with more than 10 records in collaborative
exhibition, direct shipping of exhibits across the Taiwan Straits, delivery of
engineering machinery in large quantities to Taiwan, human resources, and
collaboration with higher vocational education intuitions, becoming a mega
platform for exchanges, trading, and friendship. These remarkable achievements
can be attributed to the support and guidance of the leaders of the Central
Government and related government agencies, to the meticulous planning and
action of supervising institutions, organizers and sponsors, and to the vigorous
backing and active involvement of domestic and overseas business people and
friends from across the Taiwan Straits. In recognition of their contributions
and participation, the CXMEE Organizing Committee has presented Special
Contribution Awards and Excellence Awards to 20 emprises.
With a 15-year track record of growth, the CXMEE is set to have an even
brighter future. As the relationship across the Taiwan Straits continues to warm
up and the development of the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone is in full
swing, the CXMEE will see boundless opportunities for development. By closely
following new developments in the relationship across the Taiwan Straits and
focusing on the characteristics and advantages of the industries on both sides,
the CXMEE will adhere to its operating philosophy of “consolidating economic and
trade exchanges and promoting common development across the Taiwan Straits”. The

operations in line with market principles, and trendy forums. It will continue
to follow the path of specialization, internationalization, marketization and
